Cool Custom: Fuchs Collapsible Spare

It’s hard to find something that hasn’t been done too often, but the Fuchs collapsible spare always garners attention when it’s found beaming in the fuel tank pocket of a 911. The one pictured can be seen in Pelican member Kilodawg’s ’73 911T and is part of a very clean front compartment. There seem to be mixed reviews on the ease of installing the collapsible tire on a Fuchs wheel, with some claiming the wheel needed additional metal added to hold things in place but others saying they just threw it on without hassle. It can be done to a 15- or 16-inch wheel, just be sure to grab the appropriate collapsible. Either way, it’s a nice way to add a custom touch to your early 911 but retain full reversibility so you can have the option of returning the car to factory trim at any point.

The Fuchs collapsible spare ... cool.
